The Origins of Novel and Webtoon
The Roots Let's go back to where everything started. The Beginning After the End began life as a web novel created by TurtleMe, illustrated in stunning fashion by Fuyuki23, landing in Tapas back in January of 2017. It’s King Grey’s story, an incredibly powerful leader who is given an intergalactic do-over when he’s reborn as Arthur Leywin in the fantasy realm of Dicathen. Picking up where his previous life left off, so to speak, in terms of intelligence and knowledge, Arthur works to rectify his errors and defend his new family in an earth teeming with magic and mythical creatures.
Jump ahead to July 2018, and its webtoon adaptation, also illustrated by Fuyuki23 took off, wowing readers through its colorful art. Yen Press swooped in to release it in English, and six volumes have already been released, with additional ones to come. It’s a wild ride that’s caught fans all over the world!
What’s Coming in the Anime
The anime's initial season is stuffed to bursting with 24 episodes, divided into two cours enough to become properly lost in Dicathen! Fun fact: this is the inaugural anime adaptation of an American web novel and webcomic, at least according to Tapas. It's an enormous milestone yet further evidence of just how high web tales can fly. The trailer's already hinting at dynamic animation and huge battles, adhering closely to the webtoon's gaudy aesthetic. Additionally, a sneak peek of the opening minutes of episode one can be found out in the wild seek it out for a taste!
The tunes are fixed too: “KINGSBLOOD” by KALA is featured as the opening theme, while “Midday Moon” by Seiza serves as the closer. Buckle up and sing along!
Why Fans Are Buzzing
People are losing it albeit in the best possible manner! Tweets on X are abuzz with enthusiasm: “Arthur’s coming to life on screen? SO ready!” and “That trailer has me counting down to April!” It's easy to see this adaptation is striking all the right chords. Even TurtleMe weighed in, "I never imagined TBATE would get to this point when I began writing. All because of the fans!" Aww, cue the warm fuzzies. This isn't another isekai story it's one of second chances, of redemption, and of growth, set in an easy-to-love world. This latest anime adaptation is good news for web novels and webcomics everywhere!
Get ready for a rollercoaster ride into Dicathen! Whether you’ve been following Arthur since web novel days or just jumping in, this anime is poised to become one of 2025’s standout shows. See you on April 2—countdown begins!
